Safety & Disclaimer

LayerUp Kids is a helpful nudge, not an authority. Here is exactly what that means in practice — it is worth two minutes of your time.

Last updated: 8 September 2026

The most important thing

LayerUp Kids gives general comfort and clothing guidance based on weather information and details you enter. It is not medical advice and it is not a substitute for parental supervision, professional medical advice, official childcare guidance, safe-sleep guidance, emergency services, or checking the actual conditions your child is experiencing.

Weather guidance is general

Forecasts are predictions and can be inaccurate or change quickly. Guidance in the app is a starting point for your own judgement, not a precise instruction.

Check your child in real conditions

Nothing beats looking at your child. Feel whether they are too warm or too cold, watch how they respond outside, and adjust what they are wearing regardless of what the app suggests.

Follow local extreme-weather advice

In heat waves, cold snaps, storms, bushfire smoke or air-quality warnings, follow the advice of your local health and emergency authorities. Their guidance comes first, always.

Follow safe-sleep guidance

Sleep information in the app, including sleep bag TOG and room temperature, is general only. Follow the current safe-sleep recommendations for your location and your child's circumstances, and your health professional's advice.

Never rely on the app in an emergency

LayerUp Kids is not an emergency service and cannot contact anyone for you. If a child is unwell or at risk, call your local emergency number or seek medical help immediately.

Clothing recommendations are suggestions

They are not guarantees. The app cannot promise that a child will be comfortable, warm, cool or safe in any particular outfit or condition.

You remain responsible for decisions

Parents and caregivers decide what is right for their child. LayerUp Kids helps you think it through — it does not take that responsibility from you.

Routine sheets and PDFs

Routine PDFs are communication aids for the people helping care for your child. They are not medical records and are not a substitute for formal childcare, medical or emergency documentation. Check the information before you share a PDF, and only include details you are comfortable sharing with the recipient.
