About LayerUp Kids

Helping parents make everyday decisions about what children need for the day.

Why it exists

LayerUp Kids was created to make everyday decisions around children's clothing, weather and routines easier for parents and caregivers. The question is always the same and always at the worst possible moment: it is cold-ish, you are already late, and someone needs to decide whether the jacket goes on.

A forecast tells you it will be 14 degrees. It does not tell you what that means for a two-year-old who will be at daycare all day, or for a baby going down for a nap in a warm room. LayerUp Kids exists to close that gap.

What it does

The app turns local weather information into practical, child-focused guidance. It looks at the day's conditions, considers what you have told it about your child — age group, how they run warm or cool, whether they are walking yet, their sleep setup — and offers a straightforward suggestion for layers, sleepwear and what to pack.

There are three parts to it. Today shows the local weather alongside a suggested outfit. Pack is a simple packing checklist to help you prepare what your child needs to take with them for the day. Sleep offers a suggested TOG rating and layering idea for their room temperature at bedtime.

It also helps with the handovers: routine sheets you can turn into a PDF and give to a daycare educator, a babysitter, or a grandparent, so the people caring for your child have the same picture of the day that you do.

How we think about it

LayerUp Kids is designed to be a helpful second opinion, not an authority. You know your child; the app just does the tedious part of translating weather into practical suggestions. It gives general guidance to consider, and the decision always stays with you — see our Safety & Disclaimer page for what that means in detail.

It is also built to stay out of your business. There are no accounts and no login, and what you enter about your children is kept locally on your device — we never receive a copy of it. Our Privacy Policy spells out exactly what that means.

What it costs

The app is free to use, supported by advertising. A one-time lifetime unlock, currently AU$3.99, adds multiple children and routine PDF sharing and removes the ads. It is a single purchase — no subscription, no recurring charge.
